On May 13th Batty Mama is back with ‘Raise The Bars’ at Styx Bar in Tottenham.

‘Raise The Bars’ Concert is the best of London’s Black and Brown LGBT rappers, lyricists and grime artists under one roof. The Wittiest, wordsmiths & cultural commentators take the stage from 11pm.

'Raise The Bars'! is a call to action & mission statement. What we do, what we'll continue to do and What we want from you! “When it comes to black and brown talent; never stop Raising The Bar!”

Following our 'Pick Up the Mic' film screening and Q&A at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, we will make our way down the road, to Styx Bar for a big Batty Mama BLACK OUT! 

Warm up DJ, doors open from 10:30pm.
Performances from 11-midnight
Club Night, with visual arts and performance art from midnight-4am

Pick Up the Mic Film Screening + Post Screening Discussion
A Film ticket gets you access to the concert.
Pick Up The Mic is a 2006 documentary by director Alex Hinton exploring the underground world of homohop, where queer artists have made hip-hop their own.

The post screening discussion will be led by LGBT Muscians, DJ's, Promoters and Rappers.

Pick Up The Mic film screening and panel event is held in partnership with "Batty Mama". The Batty Mama is a Queer Black and Brown organisation which aims to financially support Black and Brown Queer artists and promote their works. They host and curate performance, mixed media and multi media events and club nights for Black and Brown, Queer, QTIPOC and LGBT identifying people.

Film Screenings are £7 until a month before each screening, £10 after and £12 at the door.
