Following the success of last year’s Congo Disco party, Future Garden is heading back to North London for a CUBAN inspired DAY and NIGHT fiesta at our favourite indoor/outdoor venue STYX!

When a storm tore their rickety fishing boat in half off the coast of Cornwall, our brave Future Garden sailors were swallowed whole by a blue whale, transported hundreds of miles West and spat out in the warm, glistening waters of the North Caribbean Sea.
Washed up on the golden shores of HAVANA, the sailors discovered a tropical paradise of sunshine and music; a gateway to the sexy sounds of Central and South America. From that day forth, the sailor’s unwavering mission was to share these wild and wonderful rhythms with their homeland.
Accompanied by fellow castaways they met along their treacherous journey, they built a makeshift raft out of old techno records they no longer needed and set sail for North London…
* John Gómez *
John Gómez is one of the most exciting new voices emerging in London’s music scene. Based in London via Madrid, John has for a long time been admired by those in the know. He is trusted by essential tastemakers like Antal, Hunee, or Invisible City, and has close ties to key Amsterdam institutions Rush Hour and Music From Memory. His excellent criteria as a selector has earned him the hot seat on the Rush Hour show on NTS Radio, where he has hosted guests like Soichi Terada, Sassy J, and Volcov.
We also know John for having a good nose for incorporating musical sounds that have yet to be explored into his repertoire. Proof of this is his recent compilation for Music From Memory, Outro Tempo: Electronic and Contemporary Music from Brazil, 1978-1992, an album which Gilles Peterson is already calling a contender for compilation of the year.
John is not, however, just a digger or collector, he is a versatile DJ whose collection enables him to pack a bag that is always dance-ready and, should it need to be, can be traceable to a particular period, place, or style. This has secured him invitations to play at parties as diverse as Sofrito, Morning Fever, and Secret Sundaze. For the past three years he has also run the Tangent party with esteemed DJ and digger Nick the Record. Tangent brings a little bit of the Japanese DIY spirit to East London, installing a superior sound system in a bijou basement to explore the deeper realms of soul, disco, boogie, and house.
* Born Cheating *
With tunes this nice, we had to ask him back...thrice!
Hailing from Dublin and coming from a jazz background, Born Cheating might not be the most obvious stalwart of South American dance music. His time as a host and DJ at Boiler Room took him all over the world, from Rio, to Kingston, to Lagos, collecting some of the best records we’ve had the pleasure of hearing, both live and via his numerous residencies including Radar Radio and NTS.
With his new record label Tiff's Joints serving up some of Brazil and South America’s most exciting music, he was someone we had to have back and can’t wait to show off.
On top of that, you lucky lot can expect:
- Ridonkulous street food served in the courtyard
- Tropical latin cocktails with lil umbrellas
- Top notch FG Sound and uncompromising decor
See you there!
